Customer Reviews

they are pretty much past the age where colorful magnetic letters are ...Ok, but smaller size than I had hoped, also lots of pieces that I will never use. Equal signs, way too many lower case letters, not enough capital letters, multiplication and addition signs. By the time a child is ready for those math signs, they are pretty much past the age where colorful magnetic letters are of interest. I took some letters out and will have them on the refrigerator, and put the rest away. I will get some Little Tykes or Brilliant Baby foam letters instead. Also, the case these come in is almost impossible to open. After a few frustrating attempts, I tossed it and we are using a different container. Good colors, nice quality, but just not what I was hoping for and can use. 3Great product!I bought these for my 14 mo daughter. She loves them! The colors are bright and the letters are of a perfect size... not so big that she cannot hold them and not small enough that she might accidentally swallow them or get them stuck in her mouth. The magnets are firmly stuck inside the letters and are strong enough that they stick without falling off, yet not so strong that she cannot pull them off. Every time she picks up a letter, I say a word that begins with that later... preferably a word that means a thing that makes a sound... she really loves playing with these (e.g. T for train... choo choo)... 5I searched far and wide for the perfect set of alphabet magnetsI searched far and wide for the perfect set of alphabet magnets. I didn't want wood magnets that would be difficult to clean/wash (I'd read, for example, that the Melissa & Doug wooden letters had colors painted on that would peel off if wet). I also wanted magnets that were big and bright and bold. Lastly, I wanted them to stick to the fridge easily and not fall off, since I was buying them for my 18-month-old, who wasn't exactly coordinated at the time. The Educational Insights magnets fit the bill! Since it's a set of 100, it's a great deal (as opposed to some sets that simply come with one of each letter). For now, we use it for recognizing letters, but down the road we'll be able to use it to spell out words and sentences (and do math)!I credit these letters almost fully for my son's ability to recognize all the uppercase letters. Simply having them out for him to play with has made a huge difference in what he's learned alphabet-wise. 5Love these, as advertised and lots of fun!I purchased these for my daughter who is very into letters right now. I thought this would make a nice complete set. These letters were everything that I expected. They are large, colorful, and seem to have all the letters and numbers advertised. One thing I love about them is that they come in a nice tupperware type bin with a tight fitting lid. No flimsy container--this is a quality container that I can anticipate leaving these letters in for a long time. And my daughter loves that the container is large enough for her to sift through all the letters and she enjoys trying to open and close the bin by herself. We have had a lot of fun making words up on the fridge and on other metallic surfaces. So far the magnets are holding up and none fell out or were missing like for other reviewers. The only wish I have is that I wish the magnets could be a little stronger. They hold up great but as my daughter is adding another letter next to the first one, if she knocks it, it will move just a bit. Not a big deal and definitely not a deal breaker but I thought I would mention it, in case someone is looking for super strong magnets. So far I am really happy with this product and would definitely recommend it! I also love that it has lower and upper case letters plus addition, subtraction and equals signs. A great teaching tool!We have played several fun games with these that I can share:> write three letter words on a card and tape them to the magnetic surface--my daughter has to match them up> change the letter game. I start a word, say "hat' then I show her how by changing just one letter, the whole word changes--and I have her read the new word. For example I change the h to a c and it's cat. Or I change the t to a m and it's ham. Lots of fun!> I put up the capital letters and leave space underneath for my daughter to match the lower case letters> Find it! I jumble all the letter on the carpet and she has to find the letters I call out, or we race to find them. This really increases identification of letters!> letter around the house: I choose a letter and we go around the house finding anything that starts with that letter. These are really fun to make games up for and I find them very durable! 5Work as expected, perfect for meI love these letters (as does my 18 month old son). For me, and him, they are a great size! Nothing that appears to be too much of a choking hazard. He is always supervised when he plays with them. The only slight issue that might be a choking hazard are the "i", "l", and 1. These are long and narrow, so could feasibly be ingested.I received one letter, the "W" that was slightly misshapen. We can still use it, but it is a bit "wrinkled". Nothing that is a deal breaker for me.The magnets seem to be attached well, none have come off of the letters yet. We use these letters on a flat horizontal baking sheet, so for us, the magnets hold very well. I have seem some other reviews complain of the magnets not being strong enough for a vertical surface, and I cannot speak to that.I would definitely purchase these again. 5We like them! These are fun for my 2 year old grandson to play with. You can also use them to leave fun "notes" on your refrigerator. I wish there were more of the commonly used vowels like a and e, but overall a great purchase. The colors are vibrant and the magnets work well. They are worth the price. My grandson loves to play with them, but he is supervised while doing so because the magnets are small. They can fall out of the letters if shaken too hard, but I have only seen a magnet fall out once. He is not in the habit of putting everything in his mouth anymore, but it's better to be safe with small objects. 4Extra large, good magnets - potential choking hazard (loose magnets)These stick to my magnetized erasable whiteboard with no slipping. They also work on our refrigerator. They are large enough that they haven't caused a choking hazard with my one year old grandson. I like the storage box - it helps me teach him to put the magnets in the box when he is done with them. Note: After having these for a few weeks, one of the magnets fell out when he dropped a letter on the floor. At 13 months old I no longer let him walk around with these on his own. I'm also trying to discourage him from putting them in his mouth because a magnet may come loose. I'm going to take them away until he no longer wants to put everything in his mouth. 5Nice letters but one was broken. My kids ages 6,4,&1 really like this letter and number set. They work great on our magnetic board. I want to give them 4.5 stars but one of the letters was broken. For 25$ I'm disappointed that one of the letters is broken and unusable because of the sharp edges. The letter assortment is too random. They just scooped up random letters and numbers not caring what you actually get. I would not buy this again. 2Big enough for small handsThese have a warning to not use for children under 3 because they're a choking hazard, so I was hesitant about ordering them for our 2 year old. But they are plenty big enough that I can't imagine a child trying to swallow them or getting even close to succeeding at it. BUT you're the only one who knows your child and if you have an exploratory eater you should definitely use caution. My daughter never tries to eat non-food items (fingers crossed I'm not jinxing myself!) and she didn't try to eat these. Now that we've gotten the size issue out of the way, they're also a great product! They stick easily onto the magnet board I made for our daughter and she loves to put them on, move them around, and take them off and put them away. The set includes plenty of letters (we haven't found a word we can't spell with what we were given yet), numbers, and symbols. 5Jumbo Alpha and Math Magnets (100)Although these were quite a bit more expensive than I really wanted to pay, I'm very happy with the magnets. They are the perfect size for my 3 and 4 y/o, and I like the combination of numbers, letters, punctuation and math symbols. The magnets on the back are quite small (I'll upload a pic) but they adhere to the fridge very well. They are a great hands-on/tactile tool for learning phonics, but they're also just great fun for making up silly words and leaving funny messages. Highly recommended. 5
