George II's yacht, the Royal Caroline, is one of the most lavishly decorated ships of all time. However, this ship was also a unique and important link in the development of fast ships for the Royal Navy. Inheriting the English tradition of hull design from the late 17th century, this ship was used to create new frigates and sloops in the 1750s.
